I've been away from the blog for a while...but I have a few good reasons!  We've been visiting family for Thanksgiving and celebrating my hubby's promotion at his favorite place on earth, Disney World! But I have missed blogging and am excited to get caught up.  I could post pages and pages of pictures from the past few weeks, but I've tried to just post my favorites!

Allow me a moment to brag on my husband.  He works incredibly hard for us.  There are times when I don't understand how he does it and balances our home life, but he does.  I am a blessed girl to have him and am so proud that he was recognized at work.  This is a picture from the night we found out he made partner.  A huge blessing and answer to lots of prayers!

We spent Thanksgiving with my family before driving the rest of the way to Disney.  This is my favorite picture from that day.  My mom and grandmother are wonderful role models of what strong, Christian women should be and I cherish these moments together.

Bennett's Aubie 2nd Birthday

I can't believe my nephew Bennett is turning two!  He is full of laughter and energy and I love him to bits.  We had so much fun last weekend celebrating in Auburn. I drove down the night before and worked on the cake with my sister and mom.  We are all extremely close, so it's tough not living in the same town. Moments like these are cherished!   

Finally, an Auburn cake!  I've been wanting to do one of these since I started this hobby!

Pumpkin Patch 1st Birthday

I love this cake!  My favorite part of this hobby is the fondant detail work and this one has a lot of it!  My friend's beautiful little girl Kate turned one a few weeks ago and this pumpkin patch cake was perfect for the season.  We also did pumpkin cake pops and a sweet little smash cake. 

Easy Pumpkin Spice Cake Recipe

Our house smells amazing right now and it's all because of this easy recipe! You can use this pumpkin spice cake to make cakes, cupcakes, or even cake pops!  My personal favorite is to use it for cupcakes and top it with cinnamon cream cheese icing.  It's perfect to take to a Fall or Thanksgiving party!

1 box Spice Cake mix
1 cup canned pumpkin
3 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 1/3 cup water

Mix and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Enjoy!

Fondant Pumpkin Tutorial

I love fall baking...especially creating fun fall cupcake toppers.  Last year, my favorites were these cute pumpkin pie toppers.  This year, I started off the season with fondant pumpkins!  I thought I'd share a tutorial on how to make these cuties for your fall party.  Excuse the photo quality.  Our fancy camera was having a moment, so I had to use my cell phone.

Step One: Roll orange fondant into a ball.
Tip: If you need to make these the day of the event, it's probably a good idea to mix a bit of gumpaste in with the fondant to help them harden.

Step Two: Create a hole at the top using a toothpick.
This is probably not necessary, but it helps me with the next step.

Step Three: Working your way around your ball, use a toothpick to make lines. 
Tip: I use the side of the toothpick, so the lines will be smooth. 

 



This is what it will look like after going all the way around.  Starting to look like a pumpkin!

 

 

Step Four: To make the stem, take a small piece of brown fondant and roll it out into a long tube.  Cut a small piece and attach with water to the top of your pumpkin. 

Tip: Curving these little guys will make them look more natural. 

 

 

Step Five: Now it's time for the green vine! Like you did with the stem, roll out green fondant into a small tube and cut a small section for each vine.  Wrap your piece around a toothpick to get the curly effect.  Attach with water to the top of your pumpkin. 

Tip: I try to make each of these a little different so each pumpkin is unique.

Summer Loves

I just discovered La Croix sparkling water a few weeks ago and love it.  I have a hard time drinking enough water throughout the day and this has made it so much easier!  They are calorie, sweetener, and sodium free.

I'm skeptical of a lot of hair products, but this is one I've found I can't live without!  Moroccan Oil is awesome and allows me to love my long hair.

For those of you who came to my Favorite Things party a few months ago, you know how much I love these!  I keep one with me at all times.  It's a chapstick with sheer color shimmer and all of the shades are pretty!

My new love.  If you know me, you know I absolutely HATE to exercise.  I've tried it all and haven't found any form of it I want to regularly do. Until Pure Barre. The workout utilizes the ballet barre and small isometric movements.  It's seriously intense, but gets everything you need done in an hour, is set to really good music and is actually a lot of fun!  I've also found it to be a great stress reliever and I something I really look forward to doing! 

Love, love, love this moisturizer!  It lives up to its claims and really does even out your skin tone.  It's also light and feels great under make up.  The cleansing pads are great too!
